Who We Are
Westwood Academic Consulting was founded by Edward Zegarra, PhD and Jessica Kaplan, PhD, both of whom received their doctoral degrees in anthropology and have devoted their careers to scholarly publishing and translation. In this capacity, they have prepared manuscripts for publication, guided edited volumes and journal issues through production, and translated scholarship between English and Spanish for faculty, academic journals and organizations, and university presses.
Their work is grounded in direct knowledge of disciplinary conventions, editorial standards, and the expectations of academic publishers — brought to every project with rigorous attention and scholarly care.
Together, they also run Westwood Press, a traditional book publishing house focused on climate change and sustainability—an experience that deepens their practical understanding of what academic publishers require and expect.
